Our founder, Steve, grew up surrounded by inspiring educators—his mother was a kindergarten teacher, his sister a special education teacher, and his brothers are a college anatomy professor and a high school STEM instructor.

In the early 2000s, Steve worked for one of America’s largest digital and print publishers, where he learned the ins-and-outs of the industry. But he saw immediate room for improvement—a way to create learning material with clear explanations that truly supported both educators and students.

In 2012, Steve founded SK Scientific with a mission to simplify and modernize academic publishing. Just a year later, our first human anatomy lab manuals for a college-level audience were adopted, and more than 10 years later, are still in use at that college today.
